Foam Extinguishers

Fight fire with foam

Fight fire with foam

Foam extinguishers use a combination of water and aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) to efficiently extinguish Class A and Class B fires, including paper, wood, textiles and flammable liquids.

The foam forms a flame-smothering seal over the surface, soaking into the material and starving the fire of oxygen, which puts out the fire and prevents re-ignition.

Unlike their water-only counterparts, foam extinguishers can be used to extinguish flammable liquid fires, such as petrol, paraffin, paint and oil. However, a foam extinguisher cannot be used on live electrical equipment or flammable metal fires.
